Laptop User Policy and Agreement

Calvert Library is offering customers the use of laptops to be used in the library.  The laptops may be used for Microsoft Office and to access the Internet.  These laptops were donated by BAE Systems, the same firm that donated the installation of Wifi for our library. 

Laptops are available to be used in the library.  Laptops are barcoded and will be checked out and discharged from a customer’s account.
Laptops are available for checkout to customers 18 years of age and older.
The laptop may only be used in the library. 
The laptop may never be left unattended.
The laptop may be used for one hour per day, longer if no one is waiting.
Printing is not available from the laptop.  Data may be saved to a CD or a USB flash drive.  Data may not be saved to the laptop’s hard drive.

I will comply with the Computer Use policy and the Internet Safety policy.
I will be responsible for any loss or damage to the laptop and I understand that the replacement value of the laptop is $1,600.  Charges for damage to the battery/power cord is $130 and damage to the case is $30.
I will not handle a laptop in a manner that can lead to damage, such as dropping it or downloading hazardous files.

I will return the laptop to the librarian 30 minutes prior to library closing.
I will not place the power cord in any walkway or area where it could be a tripping hazard.
