- Grand Opening Evening Storytime: 6:30pm Join us for our opening night family storytime which includes stories, songs and flannelboard stories.
- Meet a Superhero, 7:00pm: Come meet a superhero from Superheroes of Southern Maryland and hear their anti-bullying message. There will be time for autographs and picture taking.
Wednesday, May 22nd
- Music with Joe, 5:30pm: Come and enjoy a musical selection from our very own librarian, Joe Ruff, and his musical group!
- Garden Smarter, Container Gardening7:00pm: Join Master Gardener, Nancy Radcliffe, for an informative evening about container gardening.
Thursday, May 23rd
- Theater Thursday, 10:00am: Bring the little ones for a Caillou movie, story and coloring sheet.
- Tell Us Your Story About..., 2:00pm: Join for a discussion about the history of Calvert Library and tell us your story about your library memories.
- Family Night, 7:00pm: Family night events will include tours of the new location, stories, music, make 'n take stations, and games. Try our new "Imagination Station" for interactive and imaginative play which is an essential part of a child’s early learning.
Friday, May 24th
- Southern Matinee - Lincoln, 1:00pm: Lincoln is a 2012 American historical drama film based in part on Doris Kearns Goodwin's biography Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln, and covers the final four months of Lincoln's life.

Architectural firm Gant Brunnett Architects designed the renovation of the Calvert Library Southern Branch. Patricia Hofmann, Calvert Library Director said of the awardee, “GBA (Gant Brunnett Architects), based in Baltimore, has extensive experience in the design of public libraries, including renovation projects.” GBA also designed the Agricultural Exhibit Building at Jefferson Patterson Park.
